St Werburgh’s Medical Practice (Chester) for the Homeless are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated GP to join our established team. We are looking for an individual, who relishes a challenge and has a keen interest in complex homeless patients.

St Werburgh’s is a beacon practice, now with more than 400 registered patients including those on the Special Allocated Service (previously known as the Zero Tolerance Scheme). Northgate Medical Centre has been managing this Practice for the last 10 Years, and has been a great success in helping provide the Homeless with a bespoke service.

The 4 Partners of Northgate Medical Centre are committed to clinically managing and supporting St Werburgh’s team alongside Northgate Medical Centre with their experienced team. St Werburgh’s is a partner of ‘Chester Central Primary Care Network’ and has a close working relationship with the 5 Practices of the PCN, District Nurses and community services.

Currently, St Werburgh’s has two dedicated GPs, one devoted Specialist Nurse Practitioner, a part time Mental Health Nurse, part-time Counsellor and committed reception and administration team. The team have focused their careers to offering support and high standards of healthcare to this vulnerable group of patients. One of our GPs is retiring after 10 years’ service and we are looking to fill this vacancy from 1st April 2020.

The homeless are a unique group of vulnerable patients requiring a tailored service that cannot be provided in mainstream general practice. The trust between the patients and the Clinicians is paramount to their continuity of care. The role combines general practice skills, utilising and developing interest in substance misuse treatment. The role is predominately practice based with visits to day centres and hostels as required.
